This is my wife Marie-France exercising her natural
coquetry and enjoying the warm spring weather in a secluded bay not far
from our house. I wanted to replicate the spirit of one of my best
selling work,
Whakanewha and we went to explore some newly opened walking tracks
to discover more of the beauty of our island. As she was taking poses,
two unheralded kayakers silently appeared from around the rocks to
stumble upon the naked anatomy of one the most seductive of Waiheke's
mermaids.
Cable bay
is also the name of a local winery making excellent reds.
This is amazing, but most of all I love the water
(because I absolutely suck at drawing water.) it's very realistic;
amazing detail, both on the body, and the surroundings. Also, you
captured a great moment on paper.
This is just...absolutely gorgeous. This is how and what I draw, so I
just appreciate it that much more....the richness of the mid-tones gives
it such a full, smooth quality....its just beautiful. Possibly one of my
favorite pencil drawings of all time!
That is so beautiful.. I don't know either you or your wife, but I feel
like I've seen her now!
You have a wonderful knack for anatomy, the beautiful model must help
much.
Wow! At first glance, It looks to be a photograph. It's really gorgeous.
The water and the shadows are just amazing looking ^_^ Very inspiring.
That's great that she is comfortable in her own skin and isn't afraid to
show it. Thank you for sharing such a cool picture and memory.
That's really wonderful. I think the woman's body looks perfect, the
muscles in the back and arms and the way the rear end is shaped, it's
all very accurate and realistic. Well done!
Very cool, quite realistic. When I saw the thumbnail I first thought it
was a black & white photograph. Bravo
Amazing drawing, and a beautiful woman, love it
oh this is really capturing... it is so realistic
she seems so free and her hands are spread as if she is about to take
flight
i love it
great! I feel as if I could reach out and touch her, she seems so real!
omg...that's a drawing?!? That looks like it should be a photo!! Great
job, great job.
incredible drawing! I love it! I also like this because it seems like
shes having fun like "Weee! I dont really care who sees me!" sort a fun-ness
to it.
Excellent rendering and no pretension... perfect
This is fantastic and incredibly beautiful. Wonderful work!
Excellent drawing. The waist is well proportioned to the hips and the
body is very well sized...
This is just...wow...excellent. Amazing work...the shading of the
water...and just everything is just...wow. I don't even know what to say
it's just breath taking of how amazing this piece is.
I love how she looks very natural... and not super modely... and I say
this because i have nothing but models to practice with... and here you
were presented with a beautifully natural person to create this
inspiring piece of traditional art in its finest. Good work!
wow, Wonderful rendering with graphite. The water looks so realistic and
time consuming *_* but very well executed. Well done.
there is so much truth and beauty here!!
Very beautiful!

This piece is sexy, down to earth, fun and
flirtatious. I think I see a bit of myself, my mother, sister, friends,
everyone when I look at this. This woman seems proud to be her, and I
reckon that's a lovely feeling.
Superb drawing !! It is so realistic !! Good work
Great drawing! Particular, water seems real!
Very nice drawing. Great setting for the model. Great job. How long did
she have to stand like that? Nice job on the shading. Also the different
textures really help each piece of land and flesh to separate from each
other, yet they fit together very nicely.
This is an amazing piece of work, absolutely
brilliantly rendered, the water, the water, makes me feel like a swim.
This is Great. Everything shows a perfect dominion of the technique.
Well done.
Wow, this is lovely! The true beauty of a woman.. apart from all the
commerce of today.. apart from the anorectic ideal, with no makeup or
clothes, mother nature itself!
amazing drawing! One day i will wish
somebody try to draw me in that way. Your wife it's very beautiful.
excellent model and that pose. Very sweet.
beautifully drawn....such grace and realism, and you did a fine job on
every surface and texture here.
She's absolutely stunning, first off.
Secondly, you did a wonderful job of this drawing. The shading is so
nicely done and makes it so realistic. I love the curve of her body, it
gives off a sense of freedom and shows that she is not ashamed of
herself. It seems that you captured her personality in this one. She
seems very self-assured (wish I could be the same way, I admit).
I'd also like to add that I am truly impressed by the way you shaded the
water to make it so realistic looking because I for one have never
figured out how to shade water to make it look realistic... I wish I
could give you some constructive criticism, but I am afraid I can't find
anything wrong with it.. it is a total masterpiece. Wonderful job!
I think I'm in love. I like the arms in the air and really appreciate
that you included the way a persons skin folds on their back when doing
such a gesture. Nice job!
Perfect harmony. A shrub to the right, a cloud gathered to the left, a
woman with perfect anatomy creating a balance with her arms and a
central line from the spine to the reflex on the water. And more, a
piece of art.
a beautifully rendered drawing, very classic and fun!
This piece is gorgeously executed!
What a great drawing . So innocent and elegant, simply great
She looks so free, I'm jealous.
Fantastic job and you are a very lucky man to have such a serenely
confident wife. She is indeed beautiful.
Your wife is beautiful and her body language suggests she understands
and appreciates it.
it's so romantic. I love it!!!
The water effect is awesome, must have been really hard to do with
pencil...
Its a very calm and delightful picture. This piece is sexy, down to
earth, fun and flirtatious.
Beautiful expression and draftsmanship!
Absolutely beautiful. I love the pencil art, the whole piece is amazing.
