Step One - Choosing a pose.
Amy is trying a few
poses... You may have a definite idea of a pose... if not, I can
help with some suggestions. You can also browse our collection of
bodycasting links to learn more about this
art form and see what othe artists are doing.

Step Two - Mixing the
Alginate.
Measuring the right amount of water. The water is cold, very
cold...nippy! |

My workshop is a bit of a mess.
This is an easy procedure. |

Adjusting the pose...
"Lift up your chin a bit please... perfect! "
This is where you must be creative.

Mixing the alginate with water in a plastic bucket. I use a power drill
as I want to get a creamy texture in less than 2 minutes.

This will raise goosebumps |
Step Three - Applying the Alginate.
I apply a first layer against the skin.
I must massage it in firmly to push out all
air bubbles that could get trapped in the alginate.
Amy finds the alginate to be rather cold...
Warm water would be more comfortable but cold water slows down the setting
time of the alginate giving me more time to work it nicely over the entire
casting area.

|
I now build up thickness. I have to work quickly as I only have 5 minutes
before the alginate starts setting.
Amy is keeping very still while we are
making a mold of her breasts.

... final touch.
The alginate sets in. If I have done a good job, every details of Amy's
skin has been captured.
The alginate is hopefully of an equal thickness all over the casting
area.
We tell you much more on how to make a mold of
someone's bust in our "body casting manual"
